Secure Users

Adding a Secure User

Before a secure file can be viewed, a user must be given access to the file. The "Users" tab will be populated with all of the current accounts from the CRM module. To add a new user, click on the 'Add new User' button in the top right corner of the page, and add a new user through the CRM.

Giving Secure Access to User

Click on the "View/edit" button on a user's row in this list, and you will be able to edit the current Page Security settings for that user. To give this user access to a secure page or file, click on the 'Page Links' or 'File Links' buttons on the edit page, and then select the pages or files that you would like to allow them to view by checking the checkbox on each item on the right hand submenu.

Adding a User to a User Group

While on a user's edit page in the Page Security module, you can view and edit their user group associations by clicking on the 'Group Links' button in the left hand menu. Here, you will be shown a list of all of the currently set up secure user groups, and can add this user to any group by checking the checkbox next to each group.

Secure User Groups

In the Page Security v3 module, a user group is a group of users that share access privileges, and is an easy way to give the same access restrictions to multiple users.

Adding a User Group

After clicking on the "User Groups" tab, you will be brought to the current list of secure user groups. To create a new user group, click on the 'Add New Group' button in the top right corner. On this page, you'll need to just give the new user group a title, and then click 'Save' in the bottom right.

Adding a User to a User Group

Giving Secure Access to User Group

Click on the "View/edit" button on a user group's row in this list, and you will be able to edit the current Page Security settings for that group. To give this group access to a secure page or file, click on the 'Page Links' or 'File Links' buttons on the edit page, and then select the pages or files that you would like to allow them to view by checking the checkbox on each item on the right hand submenu.

Secure Pages

Secure pages are pages on your site that can only be viewable by a user who has been granted access.

Adding a Secure Page

To secure a page, click on the "Add secure pages" button underneath the "Secure Pages" tab. This next page will show a list of the current pages that can be secured. Click on the page item in this list to mark the checkbox, which will secure the page and prevent access from other users. With the desired page or pages selected on the left, you can then mark the checkboxes on the right hand side of the page to select which users and/or user groups you would like to give access to. Click 'Save' at the bottom of the changes to complete this update.

Updating a Secure Page

You can also add or remove users and user groups from existing secure pages. Click the "Secure Pages" tab, and you will see a list of all pages, whether secure or unsecured. To change the users or groups that have access to these pages, click on an item from the list, and then mark the checkboxes on the right hand side next to each of the users or user groups that you would like to give access. Similarly, you can uncheck users and groups that you would like to revoke access from. Note that all changes on this page are immediate.

Note: At this time, the Page Security module only supports the Blog, Directory, Forms and Page Editor modules.

Secure Files

Secure files are files on your site that can only be viewed or downloaded by a user who has been granted access.

Adding a Secure File

Before a file can be secured, it should be added to the "secure" folder in the "File Manager" module. Only files that are contained within this "secure" folder can be secured through the Page Security module.

Granting Access to a Secure File

Once your file has been added to the "secure" folder, click on the 'Secure Files' tab in the Page Security' module to see all of the files that are currently in the secured folder. To change the users or groups that have access to these files, click on an item from the list, and then mark the checkboxes on the right hand side next to each of the users or user groups that you would like to give access. Similarly, you can uncheck users and groups that you would like to revoke access from. Note that all changes on this page are immediate.
