Getting Started (Settings)

Before you start creating your first campaign navigate to the Settings interface to make some basic configurations.

Settings

Contact Field Settings

Update your contact information merge tag placeholders.

Note: See User Tags above.

From/Email Settings

You can edit the following:

  • From Name - The "From Name" the campaign receiver sees.
  • From Email - The e-mail address the newsletter appears to come from.
  • Mail Category - Used for tracking and displaying campaign statistics.

Subscriber Field Settings

Create additional subscriber fields (merge tags will be created).

Note: See Subscriber Tags above.

Social Media Settings

Create default social media names and links for the popular social media services. When these are filled in, it will speed up the process in setting up social media widgets to your campaign.

Campaigns

The process of creating a campaign has been rebuilt, and there is no need to create to first create a template. This will all be done within the template builder interface.

Add New Campaign

Before building your campaign template, you will first need to provide some basic information about the campaign. Make sure you give your campaign a title and subject. You may choose not to select a date for sending the campaign, in which you make the campaign a draft.

Draft Campaign

If you don't want to have your campaign send at a specific date and time you make choose to check the Draft option. This option will put the campaign on hold indefinitely.

Campaign Statistics

After a campaign has been successfully completed a new button will appear on the Campaign Overview to view the campaign statistics.

You can view the following statistics on this page:

  • Campaign Stats = General statistics for this campaign
  • Processed = E-mails queued for delivery.
  • Delivered = E-mails successfully delivered.
  • Opens = List of subscriber who opened the campaign.
  • Clicks = List of subscribers who clicked on a link inside the campaign.
  • Unsubscribes = List of subscribers that have unsubscribed (via unsubscribe link in campaign).
  • Deferred = List of subscribers that were processed, but rejected by recipient's mail server.
  • Invalid Addresses = List of subscribers who have been flagged for an invalid e-mail address (AKA dropped).
  • Spam Reported = List of subscribers who have been flagged for spam reporting (AKA dropped).
  • Bounced Addresses = List of subscribers that were processed, but rejected by recipient's mail server.

Saved Templates

When in the template builder interface, clicking the Save as Template... button will create a template that can be used in the future as a starting point. Before the template can be saved you will be asked to name the template. The template name must be unique.

Categories

Categories can be thought of as traditional Mailing Lists. They provide a way to group Subscribers together, which can then be assigned to Campaigns. If a Subscriber is listed in two categories, and both categories are assigned to one Campaign, only one e-mail will be sent to that Subscriber.

Note: Please give your Public Categories a user-friendly name as they will be seen on the front-end by your users.

Subscribers

Subscribers are email addresses that you will send email campaigns to. Subscribers can opt to recieve emails from you on your website or you can import several at once using the import process. Please make sure you follow the guidelines before adding any subscriber manually through the CMS.

Import Subscribers

You may import a list of subscribers to one category using the Import Subscribers interface.

Note: Please confirm that you have been granted permission to import all the subscribers on your import file. A CSV formatted file is required for import.

You can download a template by clicking on the Download Import Template button. This will provide you with a CSV file that includes all available Subscriber fields (including any custom fields that have been added).

Subscription Compliance/Guidelines

Before adding subscribers to your list either one-by-one or through the import process you first need to confirm that you have permission to do so.

You may add subscribers that:

  • have opted to recieve emails via website sign-up.
  • have opted to recieve emails from you offline.
  • have opted to recieve updates from you via campaigns either offline or through the website.

You may not add subscribers that:

  • are on a list you purchased from a 3rd party.
  • are on a list you have exported from an email address book.
  • are on a list that was "scraped" from another website.
  • are on a busines card you have collected.
  • simply have not requested emails from you.

Unsubscribe Link

It is required that you have an Unsubscribe link on all campaigns you send out. If you do not include one manually then one will be added for you. It's also important that you include your company name and contact information to all campaigns as well. Use the Contacts/Unsubscribe Content Block to include these on your campaign.

Dropped E-mails

Subscribers who are marked as Dropped (AKA Blocked) will not receive campaigns. You will see which Subscribers have been dropped from the Subscriber Overview. View the Subscriber for more information as to why they were dropped (i.e. spam report, invalid address, bounced address). You should attend to dropped subscribers as soon as possible. Either correct the e-mail address (if invalid) or remove them. If you are confident nothing is wrong with the Subscriber account you can un-block the Subscriber from the drop list.
